Instructional Program

The instructional program is offered by a staff uniquely trained to provide additional classroom structure, proven instructional strategies and ongoing parental communication. The basis of the instructional program is an instructional model that improves student achievement using the analysis of student performance and ongoing student assessments. The curriculum is based on meeting the Indiana Academic Standards in mathematics, language arts, reading, science and social studies. Parental involvement and continued support are required in all curricular phases and activities. The balanced curriculum will consist of a core of basic academic proficiency which will meet the expectations outlined in the Indiana Academic Standards and will include the following:

Mathematics
• focus on mathematics content and processes
• include the study of number sense, computation, algebra, geometry, measurement and problem solving
• develop the ability to read, write, listen ask questions, think and communicate about math
• frequent assessment

Science
• integrated "hands on" inquire science
• the study of scientific thinking, the physical world, the living environment, the mathematical world and common scientific themes

Language Arts
• balanced technology supported literacy program
• focus on reading and writing processes
• the study of word recognition, fluency and vocabulary development, reading comprehension, literary response and analysis, writing process and applications, written English language conventions, listening and speaking skills
• journal writing and portfolios
• frequent assessment

Social Studies:
• develop informed, responsible citizens who participate effectively in our democratic society
